Renovation of Historic Brick Building

A three story masonry brick structure, built in 1894, was renovated for use as office space and a restaurant. NE&C prepared construction documents for the renovations to the existing framing system in order to support the increase loads, address the deterioration of the wood due to water infiltration, and to limit floor deflections. The renovations also included reinforcements for the masonry brick due to the addition of new openings which were closely spaced along the bearing walls. The wooden roof trusses which had a 50 foot clear span, required repairs due to damage from the installation of the HVAC systems and deterioration of the wood due to water infiltration.
