Color a Wind Turbine Winner

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

On a beautiful, sunny day with the Portsmouth wind turbine gently spinning above, the first annual Energy Independence Day was held. Over 100 people spent part of their forth of July weekend visiting the 15+ vendor booths to learn about saving energy, reducing our impact on the environment and minimizing our dependence on foreign fuel through fun, educational activities. Families enjoyed picnicking on the lawn and visiting each booth to get answers to the energy facts scavenger hunt. Prizes were also given to those who came to the event on foot, bike or by public transportation.

Northeast Engineers’s booth on renewable energy featured informational brochures about solar and wind power, a kid’s fun book, and a “Color a Wind Turbine” activity. Over 35 kids spent time coloring a rainbow of colorful turbines for a chance to win a solar powered mini-wind turbine in our raffle.

It was a successful event and Northeast Engineers is looking forward to participating again next year.
