Newport Maritime Center Now Open to the Public

Last year NE&C provided civil engineering services to the City of Newport. Now, the much anticipated Newport Maritime Center is open to boaters. The Center is a City owned and operated, “touch-and-go facility”. It provides showers, laundry, lockers and internet access to transient boaters docked at the Ann Street Pier. The center is housed inside the historic Newport Armory building, which functioned as a military armory from 1894 until the 1980s.

The Center was made possible by drainage solutions designed by NE&C to overcome obstacles posed by the beach level location. We also assessed the structural condition of the 19th century building and recommended improvements to ensure that the facility could be safely used into the future. NE&C is proud to have played an important role in this maritime project that can be enjoyed by all boaters.
