Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Following its recent acquisition of Rhode Island Wind and Solar Power, Northeast Engineers held a press conference to introduce its new renewable energy division Sustainable Global Energy followed by a cocktail party at its offices in Middletown RI on April 2, 2009.  Northeast Engineers’s headquarters were transformed into a wind study facility: the parking lot was equipped with a 120′-high meteorological equipment tower and a sodar provided by Second Wind. Both these devices will measure the wind available for the proposed turbine project at the site.

With about 150 attendees, the reception was the who’s who of the wind energy industry with wind turbine manufacturers for turbines from 100 kilowatts to 3 megawatts, manufacturers of sodar and wind measurement equipments. Attendees also included representatives from the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation, the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Services, Wind Committees for the Aquidneck Island municipalities, Middletown Town Council’s members, the Newport County Chamber of Commerce, and other public and private sector enterprises.

In its renewable energy division, Northeast Engineers has already created seven jobs, and is helping to create or save at least fifty more jobs in its partnering with other Rhode Island companies to provide all aspects of sustainable development including legal, financial, power, design, outreach, as well as all of the construction trade subcontractors.
